Five northeastern states among the worst performer in India in school education.

Five states are Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Kerala have come out on top in the latest edition of the Performance Grading Index.

Tripura was the best performer in the northeast as per the index 20th spot with 801 in northeastern India followed by Sikkim (772 points), Manipur ( 767 points).

Assam (738 points), Mizoram ( 723 points), Arunachal Pradesh (698 points) and Nagaland ( 667 points) and Meghalaya score (649 ) points among the worst performer in India.
