After a long demand finally Sikkim gets its own Telecom Circle

The Northeastern States of India Sikkim now finally gets its own Telecom Circle.

BSNL has officially declared Sikkim as an independent telecom circle. The long-pending request for an independent telecom circle of Sikkim was approved.

The Sikkim Telecom Circle, will boost mobile network and connectivity within the state and will especially benefit sectors of digital education, smart learning and will help establish a path for digitisation of government and private services alike.

Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang writes on his Facebook post,” as per our recent meeting, the Hon’ble Union Minister had assured the provision of an independent BSNL circle by the end of the month. The circle will be headed by a senior level officer and will provide connectivity to the furthest corners of the state.”

The state’s telecom circle was earlier clubbed under the West Bengal Telecom Circle. Its headquarter was in Kolkata.

The newly formed Sikkim Telecom Circle will start functioning from Gangtok on 1st September 2021.
