An eviction drive was carried out today on 1 October. 2021 by a team of Enforcement Braneh. Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC). against encroachment of public streets and pavements near Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (CGMCH) area of Guwahati. The team was led by Sri Aditya Gogoi. ACS. Municipal Secretary.
During the drive, roadside vendors and hawkers were evicted who were illegally running their businesses and occupying space on footpaths as well as on roads which is also a major reason causing traffic chaos and congestion.
Prior mic announcements were made in and around GMCH area, but as there was no response from the encroachers, eviction drive was conducted in the interest of public service.
