Mizoram Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati inaugurates 26th International conference of IAAP

Mizoram Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati inaugurated the 57th National and 26th International Conference of the Indian Academy of Applied Psychology(IAAP). He also addressed this momentous event hosted by the Department of Clinical Psychology, Mizoram University. The theme chosen for this conference is, “Relevance of Psychology on Pandemic Condition and its impact on well-being in the digital world”.

Governor Hari Babu expressed his delight in being able to address this important event and wished the success of this conference to meet the aspirations of the scientific community to the fullest. He had stressed the importance of the role Psychology plays in our society which he believed is increasing more and more with the constant growth of society. He also elaborated the need for various public healthcare and other social service organizations to collaborate more and more with psychologists to overcome relationship conflict and work stress, which, if not properly redressed, can lead to serious and chronic diseases. He congratulated the faculties of Mizoram University for organizing extremely relevant workshops on mental well-being to prepare everyone for the Covid-19 Pandemic situation. He also advocated the need for psychological guidance and to create awareness on this subject since the Covid-19 situation in many States and around the world closed schools to confine students in the online mode of learning.

On this occasion, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati also released Souvenir to commemorate the conference. After Dr Lalxmi Narayan Rathor, the organizing secretary welcomed the participants, the conference commenced. In this inaugural function, Prof V. Suvendran, Secretary, IAAP gave a report which was followed by a presidential address from Prof MV Raju, President, IAAP. After the interactive sessions, the inaugural function concluded with a vote of thanks proposed from Prof HK Laldinpuii Fente, HOD, Department of Psychology, MZU.
