BSF APPREHENDED A BANGLADESHI NATIONAL ON THE INTERNATIONAL BORDER WHILE CROSSING THE BORDER ILLEGALLY WITH AN INDIAN TOUT

On 29th January 2022 under South Bengal Frontier, troops of Border Out Post Hakimpur, 112th Battalion personnel apprehended a Bangladeshi national with an Indian tout while crossing the border illegally from Bangladesh.

On 29th January 2022 at about 1610 hrs, based on reliable information, the troops of Border Out Post Hakimpur, 112th Battalion, Sector Kolkata, while on duty, apprehended two persons on a motorcycle (Reg. WB 26Y 6017) at the check post. They were trying to come to India from Bangladesh.

The apprehended persons have been identified as Chiranjit Tarafdar, age 18 years, S/o Tapas Tarafdar, village Baradal, Post Office Baradal, PS Sasuni, District Satkhira, Bangladesh and Vishwajit Sarkar, age 36 years, S/o Haripada Sarkar, village Chituri, Post Office Balti, PS Swarupnagar, District North 24 Parganas.

During preliminary interrogation, Chiranjeet Taardar told that he is a Bangladeshi national and was coming to India for the first time. He told that his father had spoken to a Bangladeshi tout. According to the Bangladeshi tout he crossed the Sonai river today and reached India where Vishwajit Sarkar was standing to help him. The person further told that Vishwajit Sarkar gave him a fake Aadhar card and took 10,000 BD Taka from him. He further told that as they were crossing the Hakimpur check post, the Border Security Force troops apprehended them.

During preliminary interrogation, Indian tout Vishwajit Sarkar told that he helps people to cross the border illegally. He told that on 29th January 2022, Chiranjit Tarafdar talked about getting him to cross the border through Bangladeshi tout Alameen. He told that he picked up Chiranjit Tarafdar from near Ram Sita Mandir, Village Tarali and was apprehended by the Border Security Force as they were crossing the Hakimpur checkpost on his motorcycle.

Both the apprehended persons have been handed over to Swarupnagar Police Station for further legal action.

The Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier has expressed happiness over the achievement of the 112th Battalion as a result of which the jawans have apprehended an Indian tout including a Bangladeshi national. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his jawans on duty.
