Kolkata’s very own Mohammedan Sporting is an Indian professional football club of I-League, the first tier of Indian football league system. Founded in 1891,it is one of the oldest and most popular football clubs in India, with a support base all over the country. After gaining Independence from the British rule, it became the first Indian club to win on foreign soil by lifting the Aga Khan Gold Cup in 1960.
131st Foundation Day and Condolence Meet of MSC was held at the Club Tent yesterday. The Persons for whom yesterday’s condolence meet was organized are-

The event was started at 11 a.m. yesterday at the club premises and they hoisted the flag of the MSC. The former players who were present as guests at the event were:
Syed Nayeemuddin,Md Farid,Nasir Ahmed, Syed Rahim Nabi, Hussain Mustafi, Aslam Parvez, Sk Sikander, Wahidul Islam, Ashfaque Ahmed, Nasim Akhtar,Gopal Das,Raj Narayan Mukherjee,Prasanta Chakraborty ,Abid Hossain and Manas Bhattacharjee etc.
All of these former footballers who attended yesterday’s event as guests were felicitated by the club.
Besides the club authorities felicitated senior Sports Journalist and commentator Zafar Ali Kahn for his enormous contributions in Sports field.
“I am working on a documentary on Mohammedan Sporting Club and it is a great honour to write on the glorious period of the club which is even older than FIFA”.. Zafar Ali Kahn said.
It was really a great gesture by a sports club to give recognition to a Journalist from Sports fraternity.
The two coaching camps Central East Calcutta Sports Association and Sunrise FC were also gifted Football , Boots, Balls and some Sports equipments by the Mohammedan Sporting Club.
Former Indian Footballer Syed Rahim Nabi expressed his gratitude towards the club and also assured the club authorities and supporters that he is always ready to help Mohammedan Sportings without taking any remuneration.
Club President Amiruddin Bobby, Senior Vice President Md. Kamaruddin and Club Secretary Danish Iqbal played a leading role to make yesterday’s event a grand success.
