On March 13, 2022, acting on specific information, the troops of Border Out Post Kharmath, 158 Battalion planted a special Ambush near Pipli village, located near the International Boundary. Ambush party apprehended 02 smugglers with two nylon bags (potlas) near Ichhamati river at around 2100 in the night. When the apprehended smuggler was searched by BSF troops, 343 bottles of Phensedyl were recovered from inside his bag. The total value of the seized Phensedyl was Rs 64,021.
The identity of the apprehended smugglers is i) Idrish, age 40 years, Village Agrabhulet, Post Office – Gogra, Police Station – Sarsa, District – Jessore (Bangladesh).
ii) Imran Hasan, (34), Village – Agrabhulet, Post – Gogra, Thana – Sarsa, District – Jessore, Bangladesh.
During preliminary interrogation Bangladeshi smugglers revealed that both of them are involved in smuggling for a year. They works as Phensedyl carriers for Isrul (Father – Kiras, Village – Chanduria, Post – Chanduria, Dist – Satkhira, Bangladesh). Today (March 13) both of them crossed the International Boundary and came to Indian territory. When they were about to cross the International Boundary with Phensedyl from Sanjeev Mandal (S/o– Nimai Mandal, Village – Pipli, Post – Tentulberia, PS– Gaighata, District – North 24 Parganas) but BSF apprehended them with Phensedyl. They further revealed that had to get Rs 4000 for this work.
The apprehended Bangladeshi smugglers and seized Phensedyl have been handed over to Gaighata Police Station for further legal action.
Harendra Singh Tomar, Commanding Officer, 158 Battalion has expressed happiness over the achievements of the jawans, in which the jawans have apprehended 02 Bangladeshi smugglers with 343 bottles of Phensedyl. He further added that this is possible due to the alertness shown by their jawans on duty. The officer also stated that they will not allow any kind of smuggling in their area.
