Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya Prestone Tynsong today inaugurated a two-lane bridge on Wahumkhrah River at Weiking, Shillong in the presence of MLAs P T Sawkmie, Adelbert Nongrum and Pyniaid Sing Syiem, Mawlai MDC Teibor Pathaw and Chief Engineer (NH), PWD (Roads) G K Marak among others.
Tynsong expressed hope that the bridge will ease the traffic congestion to a certain extent and also will be beneficial to the residents of Mawlai, Jaiaw and Shillong city as a whole. He also informed that the project was delayed due to various issues including the Covid –19 pandemic which hampered the various developmental progresses in the state.
The bridge was funded under the Central Road & Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for the year 2018-19, at a cost of Rs 5 crores.
