Assamese, Meiteilon (Manipuri) and Mizo language has been added to Google translate, moment of pride for Northeastern India!

The Northeastern States of India Assam, Manipur and Mizoram is seemingly happy with the addition of Assamese language to Google translate yesterday. This was a demand over the years. Several individuals and organisations gave voiced for it over time.

24 new languages have been added to Google Translate yesterday. Besides Assamese, the few others are: Bhojpuri, Dogri, Konkani, Maithili, Meiteilon (Manipuri), Mizo and Sanskrit are few among many. Meanwhile, 8 new Indian languages are coming to Google Translate.

Google’s free service instantly translates words, phrases, and web pages between English and over 100 other languages. The mission of Google is to organise the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful, as per their website.

The addition of Assamese, Meiteilon (Manipuri) and Mizo languages is also seen as a reason to celebrate for it shall bring in a potential recognition to the region while promoting the language to a global audience.

Assamese language has a rich cultural history and has a significantly broader number of people speaking the same. The language is spoken in Assam, Northeast.
