Former Bengal Cricketer Raja Mukherjee passed away today. He was 71-years old. He is survived by wife and a daughter.
He played 34 first-class matches for Bengal between 1967 and 1979.
He scored 1526 runs at an average of 33.17. His highest was 154 not out.
CAB flag remained half-mast in memory of his contribution to Bengal cricket.
CAB President Avishek Dalmiya, who is out of the country, send a wreath to his house in his memory. He said: “This is an irreparable loss to Bengal’s cricket. I pray for eternal peace of his soul and my deep condolences to his family.”
“We have come to know about the sad demise of Raja Mukherjee. The game has lost one of its dedicated followers. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family. May they find strength in this dark moment,” said CAB Hony Secretary Snehasish Ganguly.
