The State Level Tendong Lho Rum Faat celebration which is a two day long affair commenced at Nali Partam, Lingee, today. The celebration has been organised by the Tendong Lho Rum Faat Celebration Committee, 2022 wherein Deputy Speaker (SLA) Mr Sangay Lepcha graced the occasion as the Chief Guest in the special presence of Cabinet Minister Mr. Samdup Lepcha as the Guest of Honour.
The celebration was also attended by APS (East) Mr. Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha, President of Renzong Mutanchi Ringmom Kurmom (RMRK) Mr. O.T. Lepcha, along with officials of department, police personnel and people from all walks of life.
After a two-year gap due to the pandemic, the annual celebration of Tendong Lho Rum Faat is being held at Nali Partam, Lingee which will fall on 7th and 8th August. The two day long observance will draw people from different walks of life.
It maybe mentioned that Tendong Lho Rum Faat is celebrated to offer prayers by the Lepcha community for saving their ancestors from a great deluge that lasted for 40 days and nights.
The celebration also commemorates the victory over evil and every year special prayers are performed by the Lepcha Mun and Bongthing to ward off evil and bring peace and tranquillity. This year Tendong Lho Rum Faat is also being celebrated in the spirit of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav theme.
