Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM) Cachar unit in collaboration with the district administration organized a three-day Asomi Sharodiya Mela at Hashi Khusi Bhawan, Silchar. It is scheduled for three days from September 27 to September 29, 2022. The Sharodiya Mela Mela was inaugurated by the President of Cachar Zilla Parishad along with the other dignitaries. In the afternoon, Hon’ble Education Minister of Assam Dr. Ronoj Pegu visited the fair and was impressed by the fair stalls and was overwhelmed with praise.
At least 35 outlets (including food stalls) of self-help groups from different parts of the district participated in the mela. From the very first day, the fair has been able to get a huge public response for showcasing lucrative traditional handlooms and handicrafts products along with the Bengali pithas and other edibles. Various kinds of cultural programs were also scheduled during the daytime and various events were also being organized at night during the mela.
