Dibrugarh University students carries out cleaniness drive in Dibrugarh town

The NSS (National Service Scheme) post-graduate unit of Dibrugarh University on Wednesday carried out a massive cleanliness drive in Dibrugarh town under “Swachhata – 2022” in collaboration with the Dibrugarh Municipal Board. Altogether 50 volunteers participated in the drive along with officials and santitation staff of the Dibrugarh civic body. The volunteers collected plastics from Thana Charali area, Dibrugarh Town Protection Dyke, Brahmaputra river Joggers Park and the bank of the Brahmaputra. Each volunteer collected 2-3 kg of plastics and disposed them at the garbage van of the municipality board which were later taken to the solid waste management plant at Lekai on the town’s outskirts. 

The cleaniness drive was led by Amar Upadhyaya, Programme Officer, NSS PG Unit Dibrugarh University. The volunteers of the unit Priyanka Madaluwal, Abhijit Moran, Saddam Hussain, Abanish Saha, Trishamoyee Borah, Koustuv Baruah, Padmajyoti Moran and Shiva Tanti coordinated the whole programme.
