Today on 31st October, 2022, at 0630 hours, South Bengal Frontier conducted a 10 Kms Walkathon/Run at Frontier Headquarters South Bengal, BSF Rajarhat. The Walkathon/Run was followed by pledge ceremony on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’.
The main objective of these programme were to encourage local people to celebrate ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ with great fanfare and feel proud of his great contribution in getting freedom for the country. Sardar Patel commitment to national integration in the newly independent country was total and uncompromising, earning him the sobriquet “Iron Man of India”.
Dr. Atul Fulzele, IPS, Inspector General of South Bengal Frontier, flagged off the Walkathon/Run. Senior officers of BSF jawans, their family members and school children participated in the event with great fervour and enthusiasm.
After the completion of the Walkathon/Race, the personnel of the South Bengal Frontier Headquarters of the Border Security Force and the Sector Headquarters falling under it and all the Battalions together took pledge in a loud voice on the occasion of ‘National Unity Day’.
