The Northeast Frontier Railway observed the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) o¬n 31st October at Maligaon, NFR Headquarter to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also known as the Iron Man of India. All the five divisions of N. F. Railway also observed the day in a remarkable manner.
At Maligaon, A pledge taking ceremony for oneness and integrity was lead by Shri Anshul Gupta, the General Manager of N. F. Railway at its headquarter to commemorate the occasion. General Manager lighted lamp and paid floral tributes to the portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and administered pledge to all present. The General Manager of N. F. Railway delivered an introductory speech in memory of the Iron Man who had put forward unmatched efforts thus acting as an architect for uniting the country and delivering his prominent role towards national integration. During his speech he was accompanied by senior railway officials of NFR along with the Ex- Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court, Shri Dhiresh Narayan Chowdhury as Chief Guest. The Guest of the moment also shared his valuable thoughts and suggestions towards making the ceremony more delightful. He even shared with the General Manager of NFR the then moments of conversation with the Iron Man making the moment nostalgic.
The General Manager, N. F. Railway, Shri Anshul Gupta also flagged off a ‘Run for Unity’ from the NFRSA stadium, Maligaon in the morning. The run started from the NFRSA stadium and concluded at the NFR Headquarter premises. Railway staff, officers and their families, sports persons, RPF & volunteers of Scouts & Guides participated in the ‘Run for Unity’ with enthusiasm thus making the vision and purpose of the celebration a grand success.
