The Hockey World Cup arrived at Guwahati from Imphal and Member Secretary State Level Advisory Committee for Students and Youth Welfare Assam Gitartha Goswami along with Tapan Kr Das, General Secretary of Assam Hockey escorted the Trophy to Guwahati.
Assam Police Commandos guarded the Gold and Platinum Trophy and were greeted by Traditional Gayan and Bayan. More than 1000 bikers and hundreds of vehicles escorted the Trophy and reached Guwahati University.
The students of Gauhati University took out a procession which was greeted by the Professors and Students Union body. The convoy later moved towards Hockey stadium where Hockey players and officials welcomed the Trophy.
The Trophy was welcomed by the Gurudwara at Basistha. The Trophy finally landed at its final destination at Ganesh Mandir Indoor Stadium field and a cultural program was followed by speeches from Sri Jogen Mohan and Smt Nandita Garlosa.
Mama Natung was the Chief Guest and the welcome speech was given by Gitartha Goswami Member Secretary SLAC, and said that they are committed towards the upliftment of Sports in Assam under the leadership and guidance of Chief Minister Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. The Trophy was handed to the Jharkhand Hockey authorities at the premises of the Holy Kamakhya Temple where the trophy will be taken to Jharkhand.
