Assam’s Child Scientist will present her research work on Sonbeel at the National level

A Child Scientist, Sajida Parveen Majumdar of Badarpur Vidyamandir High School, will present her research work on Sonbil at the national level. Barak Valley’s only winner in the 30th National Children’s Science Congress is a girl from Badarpur. The state meet of the 30th National Children’s Science Congress was held at Tezpur Higher Secondary School, Tezpur, from December 16th to 18th.

Selected child scientists from 31 districts in Assam presented their research on 321 different topics based on the environment, and 26 were selected for the national level.

The Vice chancellor of Tezpur University, Dr. Dhruv Kumar Bhattacharya, Guwahati University Professor and Distinguished Scientist Prof. Mohan Chandra Kalita, and IIT Guwahati Professor Dr. Debashish Bara were present at the judge’s desk. Sajida Parveen Majumdar’s research work on the topic of “accessing the ecosystem services of and around the Sonbeel Wetland of Assam” made the selection for the National level.

Sajida was honored on Wednesday in a ceremony held on the campus of Badarpur Vidyamandir High School. Headmaster Bhulanath Paul praised Sajida and said that Sajida is an inspiration to other students. Sajida has shown her talent in many things outside of her curriculum. He especially congratulated Sajida for increasing Barak’s reputation at the national level. Among the distinguished personalities are Mukesh Agarwal, Chief Executive Officer of BVCL, Dr. Partha Sarathi Das, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Botany, Karimganj College, and President of NCSC, Karimganj was present as the chief guest on the occasion.

Sajida was guided by the school teachers Gaurav Roy and Gafur Khan. Mukesh Agarwal delivered a motivational speech on the occasion and presented Sajida with a cash award of Rs. 11,000 rupees. Mukesh Agarwal wishes all the students a bright future. Sajida expressed confidence that she will be able to attract the attention of the judges at the national level, too. Shazida and her team also expressed their gratitude to Dr. Vihangraj V. Kulkarni, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Civil Engineering, NIT Silchar, and Mr. Moharana Choudhury, Environmentalist and Researcher of Guwahati, for their spontaneous scientific guidance throughout the research study.
