Serving Humanity is perhaps the best and toughest task, and who better than the Indian Army, who have been the best example of vanguards of the Nation. History is replete with glorious examples where the Indian Army has stood the test of time, safeguarding the sovereignty of the Nation. But it’s the role of the Indian Army not just at our borders that demand our attention, time and again but also the numerous campaigns and programmes for the citizens of the country. The most recent example is the health education programme organised by the Indian Army at the Albert Ekka Auditorium, in Fort Williams on 11th January 2023.
The chief speakers for the programme were Dr. Vikash Kumar Agarwal, senior oncologist of VCCC and Health Coach, Mrs Vibha Agarwal. The programme aimed at spreading awareness about preventable and non contagious diseases, including cancer, was attended by several people and important dignitaries. Dr. Vikash Kumar Agarwal threw light on the causes and treatment of different types of cancer. On the other hand, Mrs Vibha Agarwal spoke on the topic, ‘Food is Medicine.’ Another preliminary discussion was on the importance of Dental Hygiene by the notable dental surgeon Lt Colonel Kriti Sharma .The Event was very well received by one and all attending the programme.
The chief guest of honour for the programme was Nisha Kalita, Regional President Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) Eastern Command. This programme would have been incomplete without the guidance and support of Major General Anupam Chattoraj, Major General Medical, Eastern Command. Such health education programmes are the need of the hour and we believe, would give a new direction to the larger welfare for Indian society.
