N. F. Railway’s freight loading rises 17.7%

Northeast Frontier Railway has been constantly progressing in freight loading and has loaded 0.957 million tonnes (MT) during the month of February, 2023. N. F. Railway has also loaded 10.807 MT from April, 2022 to February, 2023 of this financial year. This is an increase of 17.7% as compared to the loading of 9.183 MT during the corresponding period of the previous year.

During the month of February, 2023, coal loading increased by 4.8% and loading of few other commodities also increased by a good margin in comparison to corresponding period of the previous year. During the month, food grain loading increased by 42.3%, container loading increased by 37.5%, dolomite loading increased by 9.4%.

During the current financial year from April, 2022 to February, 2023 coal loading increased by 332%, dolomite loading increased by 10.1% in comparison to corresponding period of the previous year. Fertilizer loading increased by 11.6%, POL loading increased by 12.1%, container loading increased by 13.1% and other commodities increased by 17%.

In a noteworthy performance, Alipurduar Division for the first time ever has generated goods revenue of more than Rs. 300 crores during the current financial year. Moreover, Katihar, Lumding, Tinsukia and Rangiya divisions have also generated Rs. 322 crores, Rs. 278 crores, Rs. 230 crores & Rs. 216 crores respectively as goods revenue during the current financial year. The increase in freight loading and unloading signifies the economic activities of the region. Speedy execution of doubling works at important sections over N.F. Railway has result in increase movement of essential & other commodities in addition growth in freight loading.
