It was a moment of great pride and excitement for Assamese Film Industry when ‘BHUBRITTA’ an assamese film by Utpal Datta was screened at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Administrative Academy , Mussori, the biggest administrative training institute in India.
The screening was made for the IAS officers came to the Institute for administrative training. The writer of the film Swapna Dutta Deka introduced the film to the audience. Deka’s introduction was an insightful and engaging one, setting the stage for the film and providing context for the audience. Her words highlighted the themes and messages of the film, and served to build anticipation for what was to come. The audience was left eager to experience the film for themselves, and we were delighted to have such a wonderful introduction for our work.
Another thrilling experience for the film is that Lal Bahadur Shastri National Administrative Academy will preserve the film for future screenings. ‘This is a great honor for us, and we are grateful to have our work preserved by such a prestigious organization’ – Utpal Datta says to this reporter. He adds- ‘We hope that Bohubritta will continue to be enjoyed and appreciated by audiences for years to come, and that it will remain an important piece of cinema history for its content and experimental presentation.’
The film was based on a poem by Swapna Dutta Deka and Udayan Duwara and Pranami Bora played the lead roles. Young cinematographer Nagen Baishya captured the visuals and Amrit Pritam created the sound and music for the film. In fact, with this film, Amrit Pritam made his debut as music director. This film was shown at Indian Panorama of IFFI and won best director award in State film award.
