KOLKATA METRO EARNS RS.36.33 CRORES IN 2022-23

Metro Railway has taken various innovative steps to increase its Non-Fare Revenue earnings in recent times. These initiatives have helped to increase Metro Railway’s Non-Fare Revenue earnings to a great extent. In this context, it is worth mentioning that Metro Railway during the financial year 2022-23 has ranked 5th among all Zonal Railways in Non-Fare Revenue earnings, with only 40 stations. In the financial year 2022-23, the Non-Fare Revenue earnings of Metro Railway have been Rs 36.33 crores which is about 86.80% higher than the earnings of Rs. 19.45 crores in 2021-22. Metro Railway has earned Rs 6.87 crores in the month of March 2023 alone, which is the highest ever recorded Non Fare Revenue earnings in the history of Metro in a calendar month.

Multi-pronged strategy was adopted to increase Non-Fare Revenue through displaying ads on the side walls of escalators, hoardings in open spaces, installing health check-up kiosks, digital clocks, digital fare charts at different stations etc.

This apart, Metro Railway has also earned Non-Fare Revenue through putting up advertisements inside and outside Metro rakes, Digital Standees at all Metro stations, Installing digital displays inside Metro rakes, Card Balance Checking Terminal (CBCT) Branding, Automatic Smart Card Recharge Machine (ASCRM) Branding, AFC- PC Gates Branding, Branding of flaps of gates, Handle Chain Branding, Token Branding, playing pre-recorded audio commercials inside Metro trains etc. in this fiscal. This has helped to increase the Non-Fare Revenue to a great extent. Metro Railway is emphasizing on improving the aesthetics of display advertisements in the Metro premises.
