BSF SEIZES ILLICIT GOODS WORTH OVER RUPEES 68 LAKHS DURING SEARCH OPERATION ON BANDHAN EXPRESS TRAIN

On April 30, 2023, at 0930 hrs, troops from ICP Petrapole, 145 Battalion under the South Bengal Frontier, seized cosmetics, medicines, household items, tobacco, firecrackers, and clothes worth over Rs. 68.45 lakhs from the Bandhan Express train. The goods were being smuggle from India to Bangladesh.

Upon receiving concrete information of the illegal shipment, the company commander formed a search team, which stopped the train at ICP Petrapole. This train travels from Chitpur, Kolkata to Khulna, Bangladesh via Petrapole. The team, accompanied by dogs and handlers, thoroughly searched the train and discovered the illicit goods in one of its bogies.

The seized items were handed over to the Custom Office Petrapole for further legal action.

A spokesperson for the South Bengal Frontier expressed satisfaction with the successful operation and praised the vigilance displayed by the BSF troops. He emphasized that the BSF jawans would not tolerate smuggling or any other criminal activity on the border, and that the intelligence department was actively tracing the people involved in this case.
