Violence erupted in Manipur – areas of Churachandpur, Imphal, KPI. The Army and Assam Rifles were requisitioned on night 03 and 04 May.
The columns of Army/Assam Rifles with State police intervened to controlled situation in the night. The violence was arrested by the morning. A no of villagers approx 4000 were given shelter in Army/Assam Rifles Company Operating Bases and state govt premises at various places. Flag marches are being conducted to keep the sit under control.
Shifting of villagers to safer areas away from violence locations is under progress.
The Manipur government has suspended mobile internet for the next five days in the state to tackle the worsening law and order situation after tribal groups took out rallies in several districts of the state.
Along with ban on large gatherings, night curfew too has been imposed in several districts of the state.
