BSF FOILS SMUGGLING ATTEMPT, SEIZES PHENSEDYL AND GANJA CONSIGNMENT ON INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER

(District- North 24 Parganas)

In the district of North 24 Parganas, on May 07, 2023, the BSF troops intercepted smugglers attempting to cross from India to Bangladesh with 95 bottles of Phensedyl and 08 kg of Ganja under South Bengal Frontier. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs.19,504/-.

The troops of Border Outpost Amudia, 112 Battalion observed 6-7 smugglers carrying plastic bags towards the International Border. The jawans challenged the smugglers to stop, but they left the goods and fled taking advantage of the thick population and bushes. After a thorough search of the area, the jawans recovered 05 plastic bags from the spot containing 4 kg of Ganja and 95 bottles of Phensedyl.

In another incident on May 06, 2023, during the search, the jawans of Border Out Post Amudia, 112 Battalion, seized 04 kg of Ganja from their area of responsibility.

The seized goods have been handed over to the Custom Office, Tentulia for further legal action.

The commanding officer of 112 Battalion expressed happiness over the achievement of the jawans and stated that the Border Security Force always maintains vigilance and adopts various operational measures to prevent smuggling along the border. Additionally, he stated that BSF has an excellent team to provide information related to smuggling, which keeps a close watch on the criminal activities happening in the border area.
