The Border Security Force has yet again demonstrated its commitment to humanitarian values by facilitating the meeting of a Indian cancer patient with her Bangladeshis relatives. The incident took place on May 11, 2023, in Kistopur village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Kistopur border post of the 44 Battalion of South Bengal Frontier.
The village head, Sajjad Ali, approached the company commander of the border post and informed him that a woman named Sagarika Bibi(43 Years) , wife of Abdul Malik and a resident of the same village, had been suffering from cancer for the past three years. Sagarika’s Bangladeshi relatives lived across the border in Chamusa village, and she expressed a desire to meet them.
The company commander recognized the emotional and humanitarian aspect of the situation and immediately contacted officials of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). In a display of mutual cooperation, the border security forces of both countries arranged for the meeting of Sagarika with her relatives living in Bangladesh on the international border. This enabled the reconciliation of their relatives.
After the meeting, the Bangladeshi relatives expressed their gratitude to the BSF and BGB for facilitating the meeting, saying that it was due to their humanity that they were able to meet their Indian relatives.
The Commanding Officer of the 44 Battalion of South Bengal Frontier reiterated the BSF’s commitment to the security and well-being of the border residents. He stated that the BSF opposed those with ill intentions but was always ready to uphold humanitarian values.
