The Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said in Guwahati he will ready to visit to violence-hit Manipur. Shah said that he will appeal to the people of Manipur to resolve everything through talks.
The Government of India has developed infrastructure in the entire Northeast and also connected it with mainland India.
Along with this, efforts were made to bring everyone into the mainstream by conducting peace talks with the insurgent groups. Due to this about 8000 youth of three major insurgent groups-Karbi, Bodo and Dimasa have surrendered and come to the mainstream. In the wake of recent clashes in Manipur, Shah has appealed to the people of Manipur to maintain peace and have faith in law and order. He said that it is the policy of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that justice should be done and strict action should be taken against those who spread violence. Shah has said that in the last 6 years, there has been peace in Manipur and there has not been a single blockade. We will solve this problem also through dialogue and peace, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, 15 MLAs from Manipur visited Assam’s Guwahati to meet Amit Shah. They are came at Guwahati are here to apprise on the current situation of the Manipur.
Talking to reporters in Guwahati, Manipur Cabinet minister Leishangthem Susindro Meitei said, “Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asked us to bring in peace in the strife-torn state and he himself will come to the state to ensure that peace prevails in the state.”
On Thursday Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on a tweet said,” The Union Home Minister goes all the way to Guwahati today, but does not deem it fit to visit Imphal when Manipur has been burning for 22 days. This is the same Union Home Minister who held 16 rallies and 15 road shows in Karnataka, but cannot find time for the people of Manipur who are suffering a lot due to the ideology and politics of the so-called Double Engine Sarkar.”
