Tezpur University today celebrated the 9th International Day of Yoga with an array of activities in the Community Hall of the University. The event started with the welcome address by Papori Baruah, Head, Centre for Yoga and Sports Sciences. During her address, Baruah highlighted the activities conducted during the 43-day countdown to International Day of Yoga.
The participants then practiced common yoga protocol led by experienced yoga instructors, Nagendra Jain and Partha Pratim Das. The session focused on gentle asanas, pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation and other exercises.
Speaking on the occasion, Bolin K. Konwar, Vice-Chancellor, in charge emphasized on the importance of yoga in maintaining holistic well-being. He said that yoga is beneficial for people of all ages and backgrounds. He also inaugurated an exhibition, showcasing yoga related resources and an e Magazine- MANTHAN, containing scholarly articles on yoga.
During the celebration, Tezpur University students and Children of various age group, who were attending the yoga camp exhibited Yoga performance.
Tezpur University also extended its celebrations beyond its campus walls. Collaborating with nearby schools and community organizations, the university organized outreach programs to introduce yoga to a wider audience. These initiatives included interactive sessions for children, enlightening them about the significance of yoga and its positive impact on their physical and mental well-being. The entire 43 program was organised by Centre for Yoga and Sports Sciences, Tezpur University in collaboration with National Service Scheme wing of the University.
