On July 23, 2023, on the basis of concrete information, the alert jawans of Border Out Post Ghonjadanga, 153 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier apprehended a Bangladeshi truck driver with a fake Indian driving license. The jawans caught the truck driver while he was going from India to Bangladesh. The seized truck was loaded with 21,035 kgs of wheat bran estimated to be worth Rs. 14,09,392/-.
In fact, the jawans of Border Outpost Ghonjdanga got reliable input that a Bangladeshi truck driver is going to Bangladesh from India and carrying a fake Indian driving license. Thereafter, the jawans immediately launched a search operation. After sometime, the search party stopped the said suspect truck and asked the driver to produce the documents. The driver admitted himself to be a Bangladeshi national and the jawans seized a fake Indian driving license from his possession. The jawans immediately arrested the Bangladeshi truck driver along with the truck and brought him to the Border post for further questioning. The apprehended truck driver has been identified as Sahinur Ghazi (32 years), S/o Rahman Ghazi, District Satkhira, Bangladesh.
The truck driver, during interrogation, identified himself as a Bangladeshi national. He revealed that he had come to India a year ago. In India he was living in the house of Yarab Ghazi (landlord), Itinda, Basirhat, District North 24 Parganas. He further revealed that he had got this fake license made from Itinda Bazar. On the basis of this fake license, he drives a truck India to Bangladesh.
The apprehended truck driver along with the seized truck was handed over to PS Basirhat for further legal action.
A K Arya, DIG, Public Relations Officer, BSF, South Bengal Frontier informed that BSF is taking strict steps to stop smuggling along Indo-Bangladesh Border. Due to this, people involved in such crimes are facing a lot of problems. Further, the officer stated that we will not allow smuggling from our area under any circumstances and will not allow any illegal goods to cross the Border.
