The Assam Football Association has appointed Subam Rabha as the head coach of the State Senior Football Team for the upcoming 77th Senior National Football Championships for the Santosh Trophy 2023-24. This is a significant milestone for Rabha, a 29-year-old coach who holds the prestigious AFC A license and is the only coach from the state with such a qualification.
Assam will host the Group-D matches of the Tournament from 8 October 2023 to 17 October 2023 at Kokrajhar.
Excitement is in the air as Kokrajhar in Bodoland Territorial Region will be hosting the tournament for the second time in a row. This privilege not only showcases the love for football that the region possesses but also recognizes their capability to organize such prestigious events.
In Group D, Assam will compete against teams from Bihar, Chandigarh, Railways, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh. The opening match for Assam will be against Bihar on 8th October at the SAI Stadium. To ensure the best selection of players, a trial camp was initiated on 14th September. As of now, 24 players have been chosen for the team, and they have been undergoing rigorous training sessions to enhance their skills and prepare themselves for the challenges ahead.
