Assam Rifles foils cross border smuggling of Areca Nuts in Kamjong District of Manipur on 8th Nov 2023.
Based on reliable input about movement of contraband items along Indo-Myanmar border, a team of Assam Rifles was launched to dominate the suspected area.
On thorough search, 760 bags of suspected Areca Nuts worth approximate Rs 9.12 crore were found being illegally smuggled in seven Shaktiman trucks in General Area Phaikoh vill (near BP-102) through international border towards Indian side.
A total of 760 bags of Areca Nuts valued at Rs 9.12 crores along with seven Shaktiman vehs were handed over to Forest Department, Kamjong for further legal proceedings.
