Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) assisted in destruction of illicit poppy cultivation spanning over 8 hectares (approx) in Ukhrul district on 23rd November 2023.
As part of the “War on Drugs” campaign, the joint operation was executed in Ukhrul district by Assam Rifles, Police and Forest department. Over 8 hectares of poppy cultivation sites in general area of Sihai and Khamasom cluster of villages have been destroyed in the drive.
This destruction is part of the campaign wherein the survey was initially conducted initially by the joint team earlier this month. The campaign sends a strong message to the people who are explicitly involved in cultivation of illegal poppy in the region.
