Seva International Model United Nations: Nurturing Future Global Leaders

St. Vivekananda English Academy organized an International MUN (Model United Nations). Model United Nations (MUN) simulations are popular exercises for those interested in learning more about the UN. The event, the first International MUN in the Northeast, commenced with three days of intense deliberations and debates on Tuesday, welcoming 182 delegates from various schools, including participants from Bangladesh.

The opening ceremony began with a welcome speech by the school’s Principal, Mitra SomSaha. She underscored the importance of extensive reading and the ability to distinguish between real and fictitious information. Ms. Saha invoked the words of Martin Luther King, emphasizing the dangers of having guided missiles but misguided men in society.

The Chief Guest for the ceremony, Smt. Deepika Choudhury, Inspector of Schools, Kamrup Metro, inaugurated the deliberations. She echoed the call for extensive reading and urged participants to follow the teachings of great individuals like Swami Vivekananda.

This edition of SVEA International MUN holds historical significance as the first international MUN in the Northeast. Delegates from Bangladesh participating in this event add an enriching international dimension.

Notably, the MUN provides a unique opportunity for participants. Exceptional resolutions may grant them the chance to attend the real United Nations—an exciting prospect that adds a practical element to the theoretical discussions.

As the event progresses, delegates engage in thought-provoking discussions, contributing to a vibrant and enriching experience.

On the last day of the program, the Vice-Chancellor of Girijanand University, Kandari Das, distributed prizes and certificates to the winning students.
