ASSAM RIFLES GALVANIZES 76TH ARMY DAY CELEBRATIONS WITH ENGAGING ACTIVITIES ACROSS MANIPUR

Army Day on 15 January is celebrated every year in recognition of Lieutenant General Kodandera M. Cariappa’s (later who became Field Marshal) taking over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army on 15 January 1949. This day is a tribute to the soldiers who have displayed exceptional courage and selflessness in defending the nation. It serves as a reminder of the army’s commitment to safeguarding the country’s integrity and fostering a sense of national pride.

The Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), marked the 76th Army Day with an unwavering commitment to fostering connections with the local community by organizing a series of activities across the length and breadth of Manipur.

Imphal District:

The day commenced with flag hoisting ceremonies at Company Operation Bases across Chingmeirong, Singjamei, Lilong, Thoubal, Somrei, and Nambol, symbolizing collective pride and dedication.

Kakching District:

Engaged with locals through impactful “Know Your Forces” campaigns, interactive sessions, camaraderie-building, and sports activities in villages like Phundrei, Kakching, U Thingkhangphai, and Berukhudam.

Churachandpur District:

Continued community engagement with a motivational lecture at S Khollen Village and a screening of the war movie “LOC KARGIL” at Sangaikot Village, emphasizing the valor of soldiers.

Tengnoupal District:

Focused on instilling unity, patriotism, and awareness, including a flag hoisting ceremony at Peter’s School, an educational lecture, a friendly football match in Kwatha, and community engagement.

Ukhrul and Kamjong District:

Organized ex-servicemen meets, various sporting events, and extended goodwill gestures, fostering a strong bond between Assam Rifles and the local community.

Ex-Servicemen and locals also appreciated the presence of Assam Rifles and extended their best wishes to the Indian Army on the occasion of Army Day 2024.
