OATH TAKING AND LAMP LIGHTING CEREMONY OF 14TH BATCH OF NURSING CADETS HELD AT COMMAND HOSPITAL, KOLKATA

The Lamp Lighting Ceremony of 30 Nursing Cadets of 14th Batch, College of Nursing, Command Hospital ( Eastern Command) held today. Major General A K Srivastava, Commandant, Command Hospital (EC) graced the occasion as Chief Guest of the ceremony and Brigadier Sudharmma Devi P ,Brigadier MNS, Head Quarter (EC) was the guest of honor.

Military Nursing Services are a backbone the Military Medical fraternity and form an inimitable part of all Military Hospitals. Lamp Lighting ceremony is held as a tribute to Florence Nightingale “The Lady with the Lamp” who was the pioneer of modern nursing. This is a significant event in the life of a student nurse she dons Nurses’s uniform for the first time post successful completion of 3 months of initial training. It symbolizes their readiness to undertake this noble profession to serve the country and mankind. These thirty nursing cadets, inducted in October 2023 will be commissioned into the Military Nursing Services after successful completion of four years of BSc Nursing under West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Kolkata.

The traditional lamp was lit by the dignitaries. Major General A K Srivastava, Commandant, Command Hosipital Kolkata was the chief Guest, Colonel R K Bhatti, Principal College of Nursing passed the holy light to faculty members who in turn passed it to the Nursing Cadets. Students stepped into this noble profession by taking the Nightingale pledge first time as they vowed to serve humanity through this noble profession. The Chief Guest in his address urged the budding nurses to uphold dignity and professional standards of Military Nursing Service.

Chief Public Relations Officer, Eastern Region Wing Commander Himanshu Tiwari stated this in a release.
