Dibrugarh University faculty invited to present research work at world’s largest oil professional international conference held in USA

Dr. Dhrubajyoti Neog, Assistant Professor, Department of Petroleum Technology, Dibrugarh University, Assam, India, attended the 2024 SPE International Conference and Exhibition on Formation Damage Control, held from February 21–23, 2024, at Lafayette, Louisiana, USA.

Dr. Neog was invited to present his research paper on “Reservoir Sandstone Wettability in Relation to Injection Water Salinity and Reservoir Temperature” by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, USA.

The SPE is a not-for-profit professional association for petroleum professionals engaged in the exploration and production of oil and gas and related energy sources.

Dr Neog’s research which stands to help the crude oil production of the oil wells of Assam were discussed in his presentation. According to his now published paper, Reservoir Sandstone Wettability in Relation to Injection Water Salinity and Reservoir Temperature, co-authored with A. S. Rahman & Pradip Borgohain, the alteration of reservoir wettability greatly affects crude oil production, particularly in older oil wells.

Dr. Neog delivered his presentation in session 09, reserved for productivity enhancement discussion, which covered state-of-the-art pore-scale alteration technologies that help yield enhanced production.

The event was attended by world-renowned universities and Dibrugarh University was the only Indian university to have participated in the conference this year. The other participating universities were the University of Texas, USA; the University of Oklahoma, USA; the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, USA; the University of Alberta, United Arab Emirates; the China University of Petroleum, Beijing, China; Heriot-Watt University, University of Adelaide; Curtin University, Malaysia; APU, Kuala Lumpur; King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Saudi Arabia; the Petronas Research Centre, Malayasia; and the University of North Dakota, to name a few.
