GREAT INITIATIVE BY ASSAM RIFLES IN NORTH EAST

ASSAM RIFLES CELEBRATED 100TH BIRTHDAY OF FORMER HEADMAN OF KASONG VILLAGE AT KASONG, KAMJONG DISTRICT ON 30 MAY 2024

In a joyful and cordial celebration of a centennial life, Assam Rifles had organised a memorable 100th birthday celebration for the venerable Mr. Joseph Tuthung, the esteemed former headman of Kasong village in Kamjong District.

The joyous occasion marks the achievement of a milestone by the former headman and also serves as a testament to the enduring bonds between the locals and the Assam Rifles. In a gesture of perennial support & strong community ties, the Assam Rifles extended their assistance by providing essential refreshments and thoughtful presents that was greatly appreciated by all the locals present as a demonstration of the harmony and camaraderie between the local populace and the Security Forces.

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTED CAREER COUNSELLING & MOTIVATIONAL LECTURE NEAR INDO-MYANMAR BORDER, IN MANIPUR

The Assam Rifles organized a Career Counseling Session for Youth in remote village areas on 1st June in Joupi, Khengjoi sub division. The session was led by Mr. Sekhao Haokip, Director of Ultimate Coaching Academy, Churachandpur. The event aimed to inform youth about various career opportunities available after completing their Higher Secondary Education, Graduation, and Post-Graduation studies.

Activities included a group career counselling workshop by Mr. Sekhao Haokip, a motivational lecture by Major Nishant encouraging youth to join the Armed Forces, and a special motivational speech by Riflewoman Kim, tailored for young women. Informative pamphlets detailing career options were distributed. The eminent speakers were felicitated by the Commanding Officer.

Eighty-seven youth from the Khengjoi subdivision attended, demonstrating significant interest. Distinguished personalities were present during the event underscoring the event’s importance.

ASSAM RIFLES APPREHENDED AN INDIVIDUAL UNDER POSSESSION OF BROWN SUGAR IN MANIPUR

Assam Rifles recovered 676 grams (approx) of Brown sugar worth Rs. 1.35 Crore (approx) at Sangaikot, Manipur on 31 May 2024.

Based on the input received from own source with respect to the movement of contraband items from across Indo Myanmar Border, a Mobile Vehicle Check Post of Assam Rifles was launched at general Area Sangaikot on 31 May 2024 . At approx 10:20 a, Mobile Vehicle Check Post noticed a passenger bus approaching towards the Check Post from T Khongkhai towards Churachabdpur town. Upon thorough search of the vehicle and individuals, a 22 years old individual was caught with possession of 60 soap cases of Brown Sugar weighing 676 grams (approx) amounting to Rupees 1.35 Crore (approx).

The recovered drugs were handed over to Manipur Police.

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTED A MEDICAL CAMP IN MULTIPLE AREAS IN MANIPUR

Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp in Village Walkhu, Churachandpur District on 30 May 2024. This initiative aimed to foster trust and provide healthcare to underprivileged residents. The camp benefited 186 villagers, including 46 men, 65 women, and 75 children. Assam Rifles’ doctors provided consultations, examinations, and medications. Special focus was given on educating the villagers about environmental hygiene, sanitation, prompt diagnosis prevailing lifestyle diseases and contagious diseases, followed by the ways to prevent them.

In Sehlon, New Samtal, Kovang, and Tuitong, Assam Rifles conducted health check-ups and provided medical assistance. The primary objective was to extend free medical checkup and providing much needed healthcare services to the villages which have limited healthcare infrastructure.

The initiative offered a wide array of services including general health check-up, emergency medical assistance and distribution of first aid kits. Services included general health check-ups, emergency medical aid, and distribution of first aid kits.

Medical camps for villagers of Gelngai, Kanan , Paldai villages of sajik tampak area in Chandel district were also conducted on 1 jun for villagers deprived of basic healthcare facilities of these remote locations, who are affected by the cyclone and it’s aftermath.

These efforts aimed to foster goodwill and trust, promote health literacy, and improve community well-being.

Assam Rifles remains committed to supporting local communities with initiatives that ensure peace, stability, and well-being in the region.

ASSAM RIFLES ASSISTS IN BRIDGING THE BREACH IN MANIPUR

In response to the recent breach in the Nambol River in Khabi, Assam Rifles, along with state officials, secured Thangtek Village and repaired infrastructure in Bishnupur district, Manipur on 01 Jun 2024. The breach occurred due to inundation of bunds and posed a significant threat to Thangtek Village and nearby areas, potentially causing severe disruption for residents and the vital life sustaining roadways in Bishnupur district, Manipur.

Recognizing the urgency, Assam Rifles and the Bishnupur administration quickly constructed sandbag barriers to prevent the river from flooding inhabited areas. A comprehensive plan was devised on-site after an early morning inspection, involving Assam Rifles personnel, necessary equipment, and local residents.

Additionally, efforts were made to enhance roadway maintenance in Thangtek Village, which had been severely affected by heavy rains. Assam Rifles deployed its personnel, necessary equipment, and did strategic planning to construct the structure with the use of bamboo and sandbags in collaboration with administration and locals to repair deteriorated roads and restoring accessibility for villagers.

Assam Rifles remains dedicated to serving the people of North East and will continue to monitor the situation closely, providing assistance and support wherever possible, living up to the motto of “Friends of the North East”.

The community widely appreciated Assam Rifles’ dedication to addressing the breach and maintaining infrastructure, reflecting their unwavering commitment to serving and protecting the people of Manipur. The efforts of Assam Rifles in coordination with the district administration were crucial in mitigating the flood’s impact and ensuring residents’ safety and mobility.
