Sikkim Krantikari Morcha has retained power in the 2024 Sikkim Assembly elections

The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) has retained power in the 2024 Sikkim Assembly elections.

The SKM won 31 seats in the 32-member assembly. Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang who contested in Rhenock, defeated his rival, Som Nath Poudyal of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), by a margin of 7,044 votes. Former Chief Minister and Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) supremo Pawan Kumar Chamling, lost both the seats he was contesting from in the 32-member Sikkim Assembly.

The Sikkim Democratic Front, led by former Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling, was seeking to regain power after being ousted in the 2019 elections. However, the party has managed to secure only 1 seat. The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Citizen Action Party (CAP) were also in the fray but they failed to open account in Sikkim Assembly Election 2024.
