ASSAM RIFLES ORGANIZES YOGA-THEMED EVENTS AHEAD OF INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

In the run-up to the 10th International Yoga Day, Assam Rifles conducted two significant events in Manipur on 05 June 2024. These initiatives aimed to raise awareness about the importance of yoga for mental and physical well-being.

At St. Anthony School in Machi, Tengnoupal District, the Assam Rifles organized a drawing competition themed “Yoga: A Way to Healthy Life.” The event provided a platform for 200 students and 20 teachers to express their understanding of yoga’s benefits. The competition was followed by a prize distribution ceremony and refreshments, fostering a positive environment and emphasizing the role of yoga in stress reduction, relaxation, and rejuvenation.

Simultaneously, at Kangvai in Churachandpur District, Assam Rifles celebrated the 10th International Day of Yoga. The event featured theme-based yoga sessions and demonstrations, highlighting yoga as a comprehensive tool for empowering women and enhancing physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. The celebration saw enthusiastic participation from 43 women, 10 Riflewomen, and 19 children, underscoring the enduring value of yoga in cultivating awareness and fostering a healthier India.

Assam Rifles remains committed to promoting the principles of yoga and creating a positive impact on the community through such initiatives.

ASSAM RIFLES CELEBRATES WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY WITH EXTENSIVE TREE PLANTATION DRIVES ACROSS MANIPUR

In a significant environmental initiative, Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), organized comprehensive tree plantation drives across multiple districts in Manipur to celebrate World Environment Day on 05 June 2024. These efforts are part of Assam Rifles’ ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, community engagement, and nurturing a culture of ecological responsibility.

The plantation drive spanned several areas, including Mantripukhri, Keithelmanbi, Irengbam, L Koireng, Nambol and Waroiching areas in Imphal , the villages of Shangshak, Aishi, Kamtong, and Kangpat Khullen in Kamjong District; Kangvai and ten surrounding villages in Churachandpur District; Sajik Tampak and Lambung in Chandel District; and in Modi, Chandel District. Collectively, over 5000 saplings were planted in these regions, symbolizing a unified effort to combat climate change, improve air quality, and ensure a greener, healthier environment for future generations.

The initiatives saw enthusiastic participation from over 150 Garrison residents in Mantripukhri, 65 school children in Kamjong District, 150 villagers in Sajik Tampak, 120 locals in Lambung, and 135 participants in Modi. Activities included tree planting, cleanliness drives, and educational events such as drawing and painting competitions focused on environmental themes. These efforts not only aimed to motivate the youth and local communities to understand the importance of environmental conservation but also fostered a stronger bond between the Assam Rifles personnel and the communities they serve.

The villagers, community leaders, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) expressed deep appreciation to the conduct of this event meant forl conservation and community development. These events highlighted the positive impact of collaborative efforts between military establishments and local communities in maintaining ecological balance and mitigating the adverse effects of environmental degradation.

ASSAM RIFLES ASSISTS IN CLEARING THE BLOCKAGE OF NAGA RIVER IN MANIPUR : OP JALRAHAT

In Assam Rifles under provided assistance in successfully clearing the blockage of Naga River, a vital waterway in Laiphum Khunou, Imphal East district of Manipur on 05 June 24. The operation aimed to alleviate flooding risks and restore the natural flow of water, benefiting communities and ecosystems alike.

Naga River, a lifeline for residents in the region, had been filled by debris and plants, exacerbating flood risks and disrupting the local ecosystem. Assam Rifles in collaboration with state authorities, initiated a comprehensive plan to remove the blockage and restore the unhindered flow in the waterway.

The operation, conducted with the involvement of state authorities was executed in adherence to environmental standards by employing innovative techniques to minimize disruption to surrounding ecosystems. Employment of boats from Assam Rifles and JCB from state authorities resulted in clearing up of sizeable debris and aquatic vegetation in the river.

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTED A FRIENDLY FOOTBALL MATCH IN CHURACHANDPUR 

Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), organized a friendly football match in Churachandpur District on June 3, 2024. This initiative aimed to engage youth in positive activities amidst ongoing turmoil, promoting the importance of sports and steering them away from drug use. The match, between an Assam Rifles team and a local football club, was witnessed by 60 individuals from the surrounding areas, reinforcing Assam Rifles’ commitment to community relations and youth development.

ASSAM RIFLES ENGAGES IN YOUTH TRAINING AND EX-SERVICEMEN INTERACTION IN MANIPUR

Assam Rifles has undertaken significant initiatives aimed at youth empowerment and community development in Manipur.

On June 6, 2024, Assam Rifles organized a pre-recruitment training program in Chandel District to prepare young boys and girls for careers in the Indian Armed Forces. Participants, who appeared for the Agnipath Scheme Common Entrance Test in May 2024, received expert guidance and mentorship.

Successful candidates include Mr. Kengton Hudson from Lamkhang Khunao, Mr. Ringthol Tarao from Komlathabi, and Miss B.S. Amisha from Charangching Village. These candidates are now being mentored for their upcoming physical and medical tests, enhancing their chances of success in the recruitment process.

Additionally, on 03 June 2024, Assam Rifles organized an interaction with ex-servicemen from Bishnupur District at Sendra. The meeting aimed to address the challenges faced by ex-servicemen and explore welfare measures. Discussions covered security concerns, socio-economic development projects, and job opportunities for youth, including Agniveer and sports quota entries in the Army. Ex-servicemen pledged their support to Assam Rifles, promising to work together for the welfare and upliftment of society during challenging times.
