Assam’s longest serving MLA resigned from Assembly

The longest-serving MLA of Assam, Phani Bhusan Choudhury resigned from the Assam Assembly on June 14, 2024,

Phani Bhusan Choudhury elected as a AGP candidate Lok Sabha from the Barpeta constituency.

He had been representing the Bongaigaon assembly since 1985 and had won eight consecutive terms as MLA.

Phani Bhusan Choudhury was also a minister in the BJP-led government from 2016 to 2021.
