Assam Rifles organised a Health and Hygiene Drive in association with the village authorities and locals of Sorde village in Kamjong district of Manipur.
The event was organised as a part of the environment friendly intiatives being undertaken by the Assam Rifles.
A total of 48 locals including 05 representatives from Sorde village council had actively participated in the Health and Hygiene Drive organised at Sorde village, wherein the areas in and around the village was cleaned by the attendees.
The locals including the village authorities expressed their appreciation towards Assam Rifles and promised that they will strive hard to protect the inherent natural resources present in their localities.
ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS WREATH LAYING CEREMONY FOR BRAVEHEARTS AT MANTRIPUKHRI
Assam Rifles under the aegis Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) organised a wreath laying ceremony for Hav Man Bahadur Thapa, Rifleman Dharmesh Singh, Rifleman Bahadur Singh Rawat, Rifleman Vunkhalian and Rifleman Lalthoun Gangte of 4 Assam Rifles who gave supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation. On 13 August 1991, a convoy moving on Shangshak-Gamnam rd near Lungreiphung, Manipur came under ambush by insurgents, the troops immediately retalitated the fire. In the ensuing heavy exchange of fire Hav Man Bahadur Thapa, Rifleman Dharmesh Singh, Rifleman Bahadur Singh Rawat, Rifleman Vunkhalian and Rifleman Lalthoun Gangte sustained gunshot wounds and succumbed to their injuries, thereby laying down their lives as supreme sacrifice for the nation.
Assam Rifles honoured the brave hearts by paying homage to their supreme sacrifice for the cause of the Nation.
The ceremony commenced with wreath laying and a motivational speech was delivered to all ranks narrating the story of the brave heart. Thereafter, Guard of Honour was accorded.
The tales of velour of the Bravehearts will continue to inspire the Assam Rifles to put service before self in the line of duty in the service of the nation.
