ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISED MASS TREE PLANTATION DRIVE IN, MANIPUR

Assam Rifles, on 17 August 2024 organised Mass Tree Plantation Drive in association with the village authorities and localites of Kasong village in Kamjong district of Manipur.

The event was organised as a part of the environment friendly intiatives being undertaken by the Assam Rifles.

A total of 38 locals including 04 representatives from Kasong village council had actively participated in the Mass Tree Plantation Drive.

The attendres emphasised about the need for protection of the natural resources especially the forest. A total of 2000 saplings were planted during the drive along the Kasong-Sorde road which is a part of the State Highway 102A and the public areas in the village.

The locals including the village authorities expressed their appreciation towards Assam Rifles for enlightening them about the importance of environment protection and nature conservation.

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS FRIENDLY VOLLEYBALL MATCH AT ZION VENG VILLAGE, TENGNOUPAL DISTRICT

On 16 August 2024, Assam Rifles organized a friendly volleyball match with Zion Veng Village, Tengnoupal District emphasizing the vital role of sports in promoting physical fitness, unity, and joy within society.

The event, aimed at strengthening ties and generating positive energy among the local populace, saw both team’s exhibit exceptional skill and teamwork. The match highlighted the universal language of sports, bringing together participants in a spirit of camaraderie and mutual respect.

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTED A MOTIVATIONAL LECTURE FOR INDIAN ARMED FORCES ASPIRANTS

Assam Rifles organised a motivational lecture and group discussion for National Defence Academy and Indian Armed Forces aspirants on 17 August 2024 at Churachandpur District, Manipur.
The program was aimed to motivate young aspirants who aspire to become armed forces officers through upcoming National Defence Academy exam in the month of September 2024 and through various other entries. The aspirants were from remote areas, hailing from poor background.

The program included a lecture on the working environment of armed forces, challenges and exciting lifestyle which it provides. A question and answer sessions was also conducted along with interactive group discussion on preparation for the upcoming National Defense Academy written exam.

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS SECURITY MEET WITH VILLAGE AUTHORITIES IN MACHI SUB-DIVISION, CHANDEL DISTRICT

Assam Rifles conducted a security meet with village authorities from Bongmol in Machi Sub-Division,Chandel District on 16 August 2024. The meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation between the armed forces and villagers on security and welfare matters.

Twenty village authority members participated in the event. They were briefed on the current security situation, including recent incidents in Manipur. The importance of the village authorities in promoting security awareness and encouraging community development was emphasized.

An interactive session followed, where village authorities praised the armed forces for their proactive measures in enhancing security.

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS WREATH LAYING CEREMONY IN HONOUR OF BRAVEHEARTS

Assam Rifles organised a wreath laying ceremony for Rifleman Krishna Kumar Singh, Shaurya Chakra of 4 Assam Rifles and Rifleman Mekh Bahadur Kharka Chhetri who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.

On 16 August 1993, based on specific information of presence of insurgents in Chahog Khunou village, a party was launched at 1300 hours on 16 August 1993. It was also confirmed that the suspected insurgents had killed one person in Pihang village on the same day at approx 1000 hours. On approaching the village, the party was fired upon by insurgent with automatic weapons. Rifleman Krishna Kumar Singh, Shaurya Chakra immediately retaliated against the firing. In this exchange of fire for approx 20 min, Rifleman Krishna Kumar Singh, Shaurya Chakra sustained bullet injuries in stomach but he demonstrated Gallant spirit and utter disregard to his personal safety bringing down heavy fire on the insurgents forcing them to withdraw into jungles. The operation resulted in apprehension of one insurgent and recovery of arms and ammunition.

Rifleman Mekh Bahadur Kharka Chhetri of 1 Assam Rifles was travelling in a convoy, which was ambushed at around near village Phurn in NC Hills dist by insurgents.

Rifleman Mekh Bahadur Kharka Chhetri made the supreme sacrifice displaying unwavering courage and dedication to duty.

Assam Rifles honoured the brave hearts by paying homage at War Memorials in Mantripukhri(Imphal West) & Sehlon (Chandel district).
