ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS WREATH LAYING CEREMONY FOR BRAVEHEARTS AT TENGNOUPAL

Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) conducted “Wreath Laying Ceremony” at Battalion Headquarter, Tengnoupal to pay tribute to 18 brave hearts of the unit who sacrificed their life in a fire fight during “OP Hifazat” at Manipur on 18 August 1994.

On August 18, 1994, a special operation was launched in the general area of Sangkhomei Willong.

A column advanced from Sangkhomei through the Yangkhullen jungle where they came under heavy fire from an insurgent group. Despite the imminent threat, Lance Naik Bikram Singh and 17 Brave hearts displayed exceptional bravery by charging at the militants. During the battle, they sustained gunshot wounds and ultimately succumbed to their injuries, making the supreme sacrifice for the nation.

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTED A MEDICAL CAMP IN MANIPUR

Assam Rifles conducted a Medical Camp at Village Purum Tampak, Chandel district on 19 Aug 2024.

As a part of its unstinted efforts to reach out to the local populace with limited access to essential healthcare facilities, Assam Rifles medical staff and a team of nurses examined senior citizens, pregnant, lactating women and children. A total of 96 locals of Purum Tampak and Laining Khun village of Chandel district were provided consultation and medicines.

The Assam Rifles has been regularly organising such medical camps in the remote areas. The relentless effort of the force towards conduct of such camps have been greatly appreciated by the public for addressing their urgent medical needs by providing them with timely medical camp.

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS INTERACTION WITH BORDER VILLAGERS IN MANIPUR

Assam Rifles organised community interactions with border villagers at Kangpat Khunou village & Kamjong town in District Kamjong (Manipur) on 18 August 2024.
Demonstrating a deep commitment to community engagement and relationship-building, a series of events were organised by the Assam Rifles at the villages with initiatives aimed to strengthen bonds, promote unity and foster goodwill among the local population. Assam Rifles personnel engaged in meaningful discussions with the locals, addressing various community issues and discussing current and upcoming development projects under civic action programs.
In addition to above, medical care & distribution of essential medicines to local villagers including elders, women and children was also provisioned by Assam Rifles. Approximately 350 men, women, and children participated in the event.This direct engagement was crucial in reinforcing the strong, harmonious relationship between Assam Rifles and the residents of Kamjong District. Local villagers expressed their heartfelt gratitude for Assam Rifles’ efforts, recognizing the force’s dedication not only to their safety but also to their social and communal well-being.

ASSAM RIFLES FLAGS OFF EDUCATIONAL TOUR IN MANIPUR

In a significant initiative aimed at broadening the horizons of young minds, the Assam Rifles flagged off an educational tour for students of Assam Rifles Public School (ARPS), New Keithelmanbi, Imphal West District, Manipur on 18 Aug 24. A total of 5 teachers and 40 students including 21 girls in the age group of 12 to 16 years formed part of the excursion from Imphal to Guwahati, Shillong and Cherrapunji.
The initiative aims to provide students with hands-on learning experiences while exploring the rich cultural and natural heritage of Northeast India.
The event commenced with a formal flag-off ceremony held at the Keithelmanbi Garrison of Assam Rifles by Commander, Assam Rifles who addressed the students and parents emphasizing the importance of experiential learning and cultural exposure.
During their journey, the students will visit historical sites, educational institutions, and cultural landmarks in Guwahati, Shillong and Cherrapunji. This excursion is expected to enhance the understanding of regional history, geography, and culture while fostering personal growth and team spirit among students.
