The Centre for Studies in Journalism and Mass Communication at Dibrugarh University successfully hosted the highly anticipated Dibrugarh University Photofest on August 19, 2024, in celebration of World Photography Day. The event brought together photography enthusiasts, students, and professionals to engage in a day filled with learning, creativity, and inspiration.
A highlight of the event was the comprehensive workshop on “Techniques and Challenges in Aerial and Landscape Photography” conducted by renowned industry expert Mr. Sachin Bharali. The workshop delved into the heterogeneity/ intricacies (if required we will choose some other word) of capturing stunning landscapes and aerial shots, offering participants valuable insights into the latest techniques, equipment, and the unique challenges faced by photographers in these fields. Attendees were provided with hands-on experience, allowing them to apply their newly acquired knowledge in real-time.
In addition to the workshop, the Photofest also featured a curated exhibition showcasing the creative works of budding photographers from Dibrugarh University and beyond. The exhibition displayed a diverse range of themes, capturing the beauty of nature, the vibrancy of culture, and the essence of everyday life through the lens of talented photographers. The exhibit not only celebrated the art of photography but also served as a platform for students to present their work to a wider audience, fostering a sense of community and shared passion.
The event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, The Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University Prof. Jiten Hazarika, Director General of North East Zone, and Head of the Press Information Bureau and Central Bureau of Communication Mr. K. Satish Nambudiripad, Prof. P.K Gogoi Chairperson of Centre for Studies in Journalism and Mass Communication, Film Director, Jhulan Krishna Mahanta, and Actor Bibhuti Bhushan Hazarika including esteemed faculty members of other departments and centres of Dibrugarh University and local photographers, who appreciated the quality and creativity of the works on display.The Photofest provided an excellent opportunity for networking and the exchange of ideas among participants, further enriching their understanding and appreciation of the art form.
