Sumit Antil has successfully defended his Paralympic gold medal in javelin throw, achieving this remarkable feat at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. On September 2, 2024, he won the gold in the F64 category with a record throw of 70.59 meters, surpassing his previous Paralympic record of 68.55 meters set during the Tokyo Games 2020.

Antil’s performance was dominant throughout the competition. His first throw of 69.11 meters set a new Paralympic record, and he followed it up with his winning throw of 70.59 meters, which remained the best of the event. He also had additional throws of 69.04 meters and 66.57 meters, showcasing his consistent high-level performance.

With this victory, Antil became the first Indian man to defend a Paralympic title, joining shooter Avani Lekhara as the only Indian athletes to achieve this honor.
