The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW), Itanagar, in collaboration with the Franglaye Self-Help Group (SHG) from Chug Village, Dirang CD Block, West Kameng District, successfully conducted a one-day Skill Development Training Programme on “Bread Baking” today.
The APSCW team, led by Chairperson Ms. Kenjum Pakam and Vice-Chairperson Ms. Nabam Yahi Tad, was accompanied by APSCW members Ms. Kago T. Yasung, Ms. Komna Moidam, and Ms. Ngurang Nama. The event aimed to empower local women by enhancing their culinary skills and promoting self-sufficiency through bread baking and cookies making, utilizing locally available crops such as maize, millets, amaranthus, and buckwheat flour.
The program commenced with welcoming remarks from Dorji Chhojom, Livelihood Cadre from Karma Mendu Primary Level Federation and a member of the Franglaye SHG. She emphasized the importance of skill development in uplifting women in the community and expressed gratitude to the APSCW Chairperson for organizing such a valuable program for the SHG.
Block Mission Manager Dr. Tsewang Dorjee also addressed the gathering, briefly highlighting the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) intervention in Dirang Block and the vast potential for livelihood activities in the area.
Following these addresses, Ms. Kenjum Pakam, Chairperson APSCW, and Ms. Nabam Yahi Tad, Vice-Chairperson APSCW, delivered inspiring speeches. They encouraged the women of Chug Village’s SHG to seize opportunities for personal and professional growth through skill development programs and various government-funded schemes.
Certificates of completion were awarded to all participants in recognition of their efforts in the bread baking workshop. Attendees were delighted to taste the delicious and nutritious bread prepared by the SHG women, showcasing their newly acquired skills.
The event was honored by the presence of several key officials, including the Circle Officer (CO) of Thembang, the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Dirang, and the Officer in Charge (OC), all of whom expressed their support for the empowerment of women in the region.
The program was deemed a resounding success, highlighting the commitment of the ArSRLM and the collaborative efforts of local organizations in fostering skill development among the women of Chug Village.
