The 2nd edition of the Tawang Marathon promises to be an unforgettable adventure. Building on the success of the inaugural run, this year’s event offers even more excitement and challenges.
“Tawang Marathon” is a joint effort by Indian Army and Arunachal Government. It’s indeed a great message from Indian Army and a befitting reply for Chinese PLA.
Recently Arunachal CM Pema Khandu set off the registration process for the forthcoming sporting event – Tawang Marathon – by launching the event website ‘www.tawangmarathon.com’, mascot, medal and T-shirt. He also became the first person to register for the event in the 10 km category scheduled to be held in Tawang on 24 October 2024.
The event, to be organized collectively by the state government and the Tawang based 5 Mountain Division of the Indian Army, will have 4 categories of marathon races viz., 5 km, 10 km, 21 km and 42 km.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Mr. Khandu expressed optimism that the marathon event would attract several enthusiasts and professional from across the globe and country.
Pema Khandu believed that such events will boost sporting activities in the state that will lead to talented sportspersons to take their respective fields seriously.
The Tawang Marathon is being organized under the Central’s Vibrant Village Programme.
This high altitude Marathon is a thrilling event that brings together runners from all walks of life to experience the splendor of Arunachal Pradesh while participating in an exhilarating race.
Commander of Tawang Brigadier Vipul Singh Rajput and other dignitaries from civil and military were also graced this event at War Memorial.
