While the Nation pays homage to bravehearts who fought against Chinese aggression in October 1962, the historic IAF- UWM Vayu Veer Vijeta Car rally reached Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh with a smile of grand success writ large on every driver’s face.
The rally has travelled 6500 kms to reach Tawang where Raksha mantri Rajnath Singh will receive Air and Army warriors and flag down the rally on 30 th October in presence of CM and Dy CM of the state.
The entire IAF UWM team , consisting of sr IAF and Army officers, (two of them Everest summiteers,) will visit Jaswant Garh ( formerly Nuranang battle field) to pay homage to the legendary Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat of 4Garhwal who fought Chinese in Oct 1962 and created a history. He was awarded Mahavir Chakra and he is still brlieved to be alive – army officially keeps his uniform, sanctions his leave, and has made a temple in his honour .
The rally is being received in world famous Tawang Buddhist monastery and felicitated.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is flagging off the IAF UWM car rally on 30th Oct at 4 pm at Tawang’s ALG grounds. He is also inaugurating a wonderful museum in honor of the protector of Tawang in 1962 ,Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing .
It is expected that Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt Gen Kaiwalya Trivikram Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd), CM Arunachal Pema Khandu, Dy CM Arunachal Chowna Mein, and CM Manipur Birendra Singh would attend the ceremony.
