New Zealand defeated India 3- 0 in test series

New Zealand achieved a historic 3-0 Test series victory over India, winning the third Test by 25 runs at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

This marks India’s first clean sweep loss at home in a series of three or more matches, ending their streak of 18 consecutive home series wins since 2012.

Ajaz Patel was instrumental, taking six wickets in the match, while Rishabh Pant top-scored for India with 64 runs. New Zealand’s triumph also represents their first Test series win in India since 1955.

What were the key moments in the third test:

New Zealand’s Innings: Daryl Mitchell (82) and Will Young (51) anchored New Zealand’s first innings, helping them to a total of 235. Their partnership was crucial on a challenging pitch.

India’s Response: India struggled early, losing captain Rohit Sharma for just 11. Shubman Gill (90) and Rishabh Pant (60) provided resistance, but India managed only 263, leading by 28 runs.

Ajaz Patel’s Dominance: In India’s second innings, Ajaz Patel took 10 wickets in the match, including a pivotal five-for in the first innings and crucial wickets in the second, dismantling India’s batting lineup.

 

 India Collapse: Chasing a target of 147, India collapsed to 121 all out, with only Pant showing significant resistance. The team lost five wickets for just 29 runs at one point, highlighting their vulnerability against spin.

Historic Whitewash: This match concluded India’s first-ever home clean sweep in a three-match Test series, marking a significant achievement for New Zealand cricket.
