Assam Rifles organised School Week at Sehlon Junior School, Chandel District to showcase their commitment to fostering sportsmanship and youth empowerment in the region. The event, which spanned 04 days from 14 November to 17 November, featured a half mini marathon on the opening day followed by a series of spirited league matches of football and volleyball for both men and women, athletic events which included 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m races and literary events including poem recitation, word meaning and extempore.
The initiative aimed to encourage young students to embrace physical fitness and sports as a pathway to discipline and holistic growth. The half mini marathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from 51 students and the local community, symbolizing unity and vigor. The football and volleyball league matches brought a competitive edge to the event, with men and women teams displaying exceptional talent and prowess, teamwork and sportsmanship. During the athletic events, the participants showed their endurance and strength.Musical chair also added a sense of amusement. The event witnessed active participation of 158 locals including students, teachers, men and women, creating an atmosphere of celebration and camaraderie.
In the closing ceremony, Assam Rifles awarded the winners and participants with trophies and gift hampers, recognizing their hard work. The winners were also motivated to pursue careers in sports, with assurances of guidance and encouragement from Assam Rifles. High tea was arranged at the end of ceremony as a warm gesture.
Assam Rifles reaffirmed their commitment to nurturing talent and promoting community engagement through such initiative. It plays a crucial role in strengthening bonds with the local community.
