ASSAM RIFLES HONOURS MARTYR HAV UDBIR GURUNG (LATE) AT BATTALION HEADQUARTER, MOREH, TENGNOUPAL DISTRICT

Assam Rifles organized a poignant wreath-laying ceremony in Moreh, Tengnoupal District to honour Havildar Udbir Gurung (Late) of Assam Rifles on 27 November 2024.

On 27 November 1962, Havildar Gurung made the ultimate sacrifice during the Indo-China War in the NEFA region (now Arunachal Pradesh).

The ceremony began with wreath laying, followed by a motivational address highlighting the bravery and selflessness of the forces that serve the nation.
Over 200 Assam Rifles personnel participated in the ceremony, and paid tribute by laying wreaths and rendering a Guard of Honour.

Assam Rifles distributed essential household items at the All-Tribe Women Organisation (ATWO) office in Nungourok Village, Pallel, Kakching District on 27 November 2024.

The event saw the participation of over 40 women, primarily engaged in various community welfare activities.

As part of its efforts to uplift vulnerable groups, Assam Rifles provided vital supplies to women working at the All-Tribe Women Organisation (ATWO), which actively empowers women through skill development programs.
These programs focus on assisting women who have faced significant hardships, including victims of violence and widows, by providing them with opportunities to gain skills for sustainable livelihoods.

ASSAM RIFLES AID IN CONTROLLING FIRE IN IMPHAL WEST DISTRICT

Troops of Assam Rifles swiftly responded to a fire incident in a residential area near Mantripukhri, Imphal West District, on 26 November 2024, successfully preventing a potential disaster.

Around 5 PM, a vigilant sentry noticed flames erupting in a house approximately 200 meters from the sentry post. Acting promptly, the sentry alerted the battalion, and the firefighting team was immediately mobilized. Their quick response and efficient techniques controlled the fire before it could spread to nearby structures.

The Manipur Fire Brigade and State Police arrived shortly after; assisting in securing the area and ensuring the situation was fully contained. No casualties were reported, and significant property damage was averted.

This incident highlights the preparedness and commitment of Assam Rifles in ensuring the safety and well-being of the local community.
